Support through socialization

You’ll find support at GDABVI through groups of individuals who can relate to your journey at our monthly support group meetings, enjoy friendly competition during Blind Bingo, sing a song on Open Mic Night, and more. Join us.

Support Group

Meets on the second Tuesday of each month at noon.

Join us to share your experiences, connect with others on the vision journey, and learn about ways to maintain your mental and physical health and well-being. GDABVI's non-clinical adult support group is staffed by the agency's Community Health Worker who serves as a liaison to assist in navigating additional resources to meet your needs.

Meetings currently take place virtually to accommodate  participation from individuals throughout our seven-county service area. Plans for in-person meetings are in the works and those meetings will occur as health and safety protocols permit. The group is inclusive, addresses a variety of topics related to visual impairment, and welcomes individuals 18 and over at all stages of the vision loss journey.

Quarterly Outings

We've had a very busy year! Activities have included Hands-Only CPR training in February, Blind Bowling in March, OrCam and Leader Dog presentations, and we've re-started Blind Bingo on the first Friday of every month.

You can reserve your space for early notification or to RSVP by calling 313-591-3792.
